Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, emphasized Moldova’s place in the European Union during a press conference on October 10, 2024. She stated:

“I feel the pulse of Europe beating here [in Chisinau] […] speaking as the President of the European Commission, I believe Moldova’s place is in our European Union.”

Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, echoed these sentiments during her visit to Chisinau on May 21, 2023. She highlighted shared values and a unified vision for the future:

“We believe in the same values, we share the same perspective, and our future will be a common one. Together, we can face anything. Moldova is part of our European family. And this family will always stand by you. […] Europe is Moldova. Moldova is Europe.”

Charles Michel, former President of the European Council, acknowledged Moldova’s dedication to reforms and European values in a statement made on June 25, 2024, before the start of EU accession negotiations with Moldova and Ukraine:

“[Moldova and Ukraine] have demonstrated impressive determination to reform and align with European values. […] Together, we can build a stronger and more united Europe, where every nation can thrive in peace and prosperity.”
