The Communication and Public Relations Department of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova has announced that the National Agency for the Prevention and Combating of Violence against Women and Domestic Violence will be established.
The concept of founding this institution was presented during a public consultation session organized by the Foreign Policy and European Integration Committee.
The event held on July 18 was attended by Members of Parliament, members of the Women’s Deputies Platform from the 11th legislature of the Parliament, representatives from ministries, UN agencies, diplomatic missions in the country, and NGOs in the field.
The public consultations were organized in the context of implementing the Istanbul Convention, which was ratified by the Parliament in 2021.
“Through this ratification, our country has fully committed to firmly and resolutely declare zero tolerance for all forms of violence – domestic, against women, against girls. We have identified several clear commitments that we propose for the immediate future, one of which is the creation of the National Agency for the Prevention and Combating of Violence against Women and Domestic Violence. We understand that the biggest challenge is to better coordinate our efforts because everyone has good intentions and a strong will. Now it is important to organize ourselves as well as possible,” emphasized the Chairperson of the Foreign Policy and European Integration Committee, Doina Gherman.
