Moldova to Receive Additional Financial Assistance for Natural Gas Supply

Members of the Foreign Policy and European Integration Commission have approved, during today’s session, the advisory opinion for initiating negotiations regarding the modification of the Loan Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to implement the project “Natural Gas Supply Security.”

Consequently, the Government of Norway will provide our country, through the EBRD, with a grant of 35 million euros. Additionally, the Republic of Moldova will access a loan of 35 million euros, granted by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The funds will be utilized to procure volumes of natural gas from regional suppliers for the winter period and store them in underground facilities.

It’s worth mentioning that in 2022, the Republic of Moldova signed the Loan Agreement with the EBRD for the implementation of the “Natural Gas Supply Security” project, which includes the allocation of 300 million euros in two tranches.
