Moldovan Ambassador to Moscow summoned to the Russian MFA. The Kremlin handed him “a note of protest”

The Russian Foreign Ministry summoned Moldova’s Ambassador to Moscow, Lilian Darii, to deliver a strong protest regarding a “confidential document” that surfaced in the press. The document refers to a letter received by Moldova’s Foreign Ministry, in which Moscow officially confirms that no Russian company is supplying natural gas to the left bank of the Dniester.

“The Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova was presented with a note of protest over the Moldovan side’s publication of a confidential note from the Russian Embassy in Chisinau. The note was sent in response to a request from the Moldovan Foreign Ministry regarding gas deliveries. The Russian side considers this incident outrageous, viewing it as another unfriendly action that undermines trust in Moldovan diplomacy and casts doubt on the reliability of interaction with Chisinau through diplomatic channels,” stated the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The Kremlin also expressed its displeasure over the statement of the Moldovan National Party (PNM), which called for the expulsion of Ambassador Oleg Ozerov.

“The head of the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Moldova strongly protested the recent statement of one of the political parties of the Republic of Moldova, which contained unfounded accusations against the Russian Ambassador in Chisinau, calling for his expulsion and the restriction of the activities of the Russian Embassy. The Moldovan side was urgently asked to publicly reject these unfounded allegations by Moldovan officials and emphasized the need to respect the obligations under the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations on the prevention of any attacks on the person, liberty, freedom, dignity of accredited diplomatic agents,” the statement added.
