Courts will seize passports or temporarily prevent children from leaving the country if authorities detect risks of illegal detention. In addition, they will collaborate with institutions from other countries to locate, protect, and return children to Moldova if authorities illegally take them abroad.
The government also approved Moldova’s participation in an international convention. This agreement will allow Moldovan court decisions to be enforced in other countries, improving coordination and reducing intervention time when authorities violate children’s rights.
