Moldovan citizens, which are working in Canada, will be able to receive pensions and social benefits. At a meeting on April 21, the Commission for Foreign Policy and European Integration approved the start of negotiations on concluding an agreement on social security between the Republic of Moldova and Canada.
“Thus, citizens of Moldova, which are working in Canada, as well as Canadians living in Moldova, will be able to receive pensions for old age, disability, and also in connection with the loss of a breadwinner. Each country will pay a part of the pension, calculated in proportion to the length of service covered in the territory of the state”, the Parliament said in a press release.
The agreement will be concluded for an indefinite period. So far, the Republic of Moldova has concluded social security agreements with 17 states, 15 of which have already entered into force.
