The Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova (PCRM), which currently belongs to the Patriotic Electoral Bloc, plans to withdraw from the alliance and create its own parliamentary faction, party leader Vladimir Voronin told RIA Novosti.
“The Party of Communists supports continued cooperation among the bloc’s member parties, but not within its current structure,” Voronin said. “We will develop a new cooperation concept between the four parties, but not in the form of an electoral bloc. We will form the Communist Party faction to focus on parliamentary work and communication with voters, because political work does not end with elections.”
Senior party member Diana Caraman told TV8 that the Central Committee of the PCRM will make a final decision next week during its Plenary Meeting.
The Patriotic Electoral Bloc, established in July 2025, unites the Party of Socialists, the Party of Communists, the “Future of Moldova” Party, and the “Heart of Moldova” Party. The alliance won 24.2% of the vote and secured 26 of the 101 parliamentary seats in the recent elections.
