At the Under-17 World Weightlifting Championships in Lima, Peru, Moldovan athletes delivered an impressive performance, bringing home ten medals.
Dan Betca (67 kg) claimed three medals:
- Gold in the snatch with a lift of 122 kg
- Bronze in the clean and jerk with 146 kg
- Silver for a total of 268 kg

Ion Badanev (61 kg) earned a bronze medal in the clean and jerk with a lift of 150 kg.
Nicoleta Cojocaru (55 kg) won silver in the snatch with 82 kg and bronze with 182 kg.
Danu Secrieru dominated his category, winning three gold medals and the world champion title.
