Moldovans receive fake letters on behalf of the Ministry of Finance. Scammers scare citizens that their financial transfers are blocked.
Fraudulent notifications instruct individuals to pay taxes to prevent the purported “penalties” they are informed about.
“The Ministry of Finance informs the public that it has not contacted and will not contact through its officials private persons to request such actions or personal and/or financial data,” the authority states.
In case of receiving such notifications, citizens need to turn to law enforcement bodies and inform the Ministry of Finance or other concerned institutions.
