Moldova’s Intention to Denounce Additional Agreement within the Commonwealth of Independent States

The Republic of Moldova is planning to denounce an agreement that establishes mechanisms for interaction regarding the provision of weaponry and military equipment to the Border Troops of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The external political and European integration committee has approved an advisory opinion regarding the denunciation of the Agreement concerning the principles of supplying the Border Troops with weaponry, military equipment, and other material resources, as well as the organization of scientific and experimental construction research, signed in Tashkent on May 15, 1992.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the agreement lost its relevance for the Republic of Moldova shortly after its conclusion and was not implemented by the competent authorities.

It’s worth noting that during the spring session, the Parliament terminated eight agreements concluded within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Additionally, there are six more projects to terminate agreements with the Commonwealth of Independent States registered in Parliament, awaiting examination by the deputies.
