Motion of censure against the Recean Government. The PSRM: We witnessed a disastrous policy

The Party of Socialists (PSRM) has announced its intention to initiate a motion of no confidence against the Recean Government, citing “the energy sector crisis and the government’s failure to take effective measures to protect citizens and the national economy.” The announcement, made in a press release on Friday, November 29, also calls for early parliamentary elections as soon as possible.

“In recent months, we have witnessed disastrous policies by the cabinet of ministers, resulting in another increase in energy tariffs. These decisions have fueled inflation, exacerbated socio-economic instability, and will inevitably lead to further price hikes for goods and services,” the PSRM stated.

The party emphasized that it had prepared all the necessary documents to initiate the procedure for the government’s dismissal. “We firmly believe that resolving the current crisis requires a political system reset. In this context, the Party of Socialists underscores the urgency of organizing early parliamentary elections. Only a new leadership that enjoys the people’s trust can restore stability and ensure sustainable development,” the statement read.

The Socialists also urged all members of parliament to support the motion. “We urge MPs to support this initiative, regardless of political affiliation. This vote transcends political rivalry—it is a matter of responsibility towards the people, who expect decisive and constructive action,” the party added.

Government representatives have yet to respond to the initiative, and the ruling Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) has not commented on the announcement.

A no-confidence motion signifies the withdrawal of parliamentary trust in the government. According to the law, such a motion can be initiated by at least one-fourth of the elected MPs and requires a majority vote of those present to be adopted.
