“Republic of Moldova is Europe” — Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu delivered this message from Brussels, where the EU Enlargement Forum is taking place. Asked by RLIVE TV journalist Traian Stoianov about citizens’ concerns regarding our country’s integration into the EU, the Moldovan official stated that all states that joined the Union advanced both economically and culturally.
The Prime Minister also stated that he does not promise “absolute prosperity.” At the same time, he believes the EU opens many opportunities for all citizens, especially for young people.
“All countries that have joined the European Union have succeeded. They have succeeded economically. They have succeeded culturally. I’m not saying there were no problems and there are no problems in these countries. There are always problems. But they are problems at a different level. I promised when I accepted the nomination for the position of Prime Minister that I will not lie, I will not promise things that are not possible, and I will not promise absolute prosperity. We have a lot of things to do. But what I know is that Europe brings development. Europe brings security. Europe brings prosperity. And this is something that the citizens of the Republic of Moldova need to know. (…) The European Union opens many possibilities and opportunities, especially for our young people. There is access to better education, there is access to opportunities,” said Munteanu.
The Prime Minister of Moldova is participating on November 18 in the EU Enlargement Forum, hosted by European Commissioner Marta Kos. Officials from Montenegro, Albania, Kosovo, and Ukraine are also attending the meeting.
