Moldova was in the spotlight last week in Strasbourg, and Moldovans should know that the European Parliament stands firmly behind them as they continue decisively on the path to EU membership, said MEP Siegfried Muresan.
At the start of the week, President Maia Sandu addressed the European Parliament. She met with leaders of the main European political groups on the sidelines of the session.
On September 9, European MPs debated measures to counter Russian interference ahead of Moldova’s parliamentary elections. The following day, on September 10, the European Parliament adopted by a large majority a resolution on Moldova. The document calls for speeding up Moldova’s accession process and opening chapter negotiations.

Muresan reiterated that Moldovan citizens can count on the European Parliament’s support throughout the accession process.
“Moldova is not alone. The people of Moldova enjoy our full support to once again reject Russia’s influence at the polls and to continue decisively on the European path,” he stressed.
