National Weightlifting Team Returns with Five Medals from European Championship

The Ministry of Education and Research announced that the national weightlifting team has returned from the 2023 European Weightlifting Championship in Yerevan, Armenia with five medals. The competition was exclusively reserved for senior athletes and took place from April 16-23.

Upon their arrival at the airport, the team was welcomed by Sergiu Gurin, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education and Research, who congratulated the athletes for their outstanding performance.

“It’s a very complicated journey to get to the medal stand. It takes self-sacrifice, dedication, and a lot of hard work. The fact that you have made it to the podium, and the national flag has been raised, is a tremendous boost to the image of the Republic of Moldova,” Gurin said.

Among the team members, Tudor BRATU, an International Sports Master, was awarded the bronze medal at the Senior European Weightlifting Championship. The national team of Moldova, in total, won five medals at the championship.

The achievements of the Moldovan weightlifters have brought pride and honor to the country. They demonstrated their determination and commitment to sports, and their success serves as an inspiration to young athletes aspiring to follow in their footsteps.
