NATO official, on the situation in Transnistria

Rikard Jozwiak, the Europe editor for RFE/RL in Prague, focusing on coverage of the European Union and NATO, has posted about Moldova on his Twitter account.

According to him, referring to the growing tensions in the Transnistrian region, a NATO official has stated the following: “We are concerned by the series of explosion which have occurred in the Republic of Moldova’s Transnistria region in the past days. Moldova is a long-standing NATO partner. Russia’s unprovoked war against Ukraine has shattered peace in Europe and the Kremlin has stated that its objectives are not limited to Ukraine. We have seen attempts by Russia to stage false flag attacks in neighboring Ukraine so we will follow events in Moldova closely. It is unacceptable for Russia to threaten Moldova, an independent country, in any way . Transnistria is part of Moldova and NATO fully supports Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

We remind you the Russia has invaded Ukraine on the 24th February 2022. Since then, most major cities of Ukraine were bombarded, buildings and infrastructure were destroyed and numerous casualties were registered.
