Official! Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu has taken the oath of office

Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu has taken the oath of office. The ceremony took place this morning at the Presidential Palace in the presence of President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

“I swear to devote all my strength and skills to the prosperity of the Republic of Moldova, to uphold the Constitution and the laws of the country, to defend democracy, fundamental human rights and freedoms, sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity of Moldova,” Junghietu pledged during the ceremony.

According to the Government, Junghietu is an expert in the gas and energy sector, with over 16 years of international experience coordinating and commissioning major energy projects.

Dorin Junghietu took over as Minister of Energy following the resignation of Victor Parlicov. Reports about Parlicov’s dismissal had surfaced amid the competition for the leadership of “Moldovagaz.” The former minister did not confirm this version but acknowledged that discussions had taken place.

In his statement regarding Junghietu’s appointment, Prime Minister Dorin Recean emphasized that the new minister’s priority is strengthening the country’s energy security, ensuring stability and predictability in gas and electricity supply, and securing the most advantageous tariffs. Another key focus will be streamlining and accelerating major investment projects, particularly in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and the timely completion of the Vulcanesti-Chisinau power line.
