Omicron is the dominant variant of COVID-19 on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, according to data from the National Agency for Public Health (ANSP). According to the results of the last sequencing, in all 32 selected samples, the exclusive circulation of different sublines belonging to the Omicron variant was identified.
The samples were selected from different regions of the country: Chisinau, Anenii Noi, Basarabeasca, Briceni, Dondușeni, Ialoveni, and Străseni, from rural and urban areas, being confirmed by molecular biology techniques, then subjected to sequencing. The Omicron variant was confirmed in one child and 31 adults.

According to the latest ANSP data, 329 cases of COVID-19 and two deaths were reported in the last week. In total, more than 17,000 tests were performed.
The seven-day incidence is 7.7 per 100,000 people. Mortality, during the same period, represented 0.05 deaths per 100,000 population.
