The National Tourism Office opens applications for the global program “Best Tourism Villages” 2025, organized by UN Tourism, with the support of the Ministry of Culture. This competition recognizes and supports rural tourism development, promoting economic growth, social inclusion, and sustainability.

Submit applications to the National Tourism Office at the addresses office@turism.gov.md and elena.balatel@turism.gov.md by May 16, 2025, at 16:00. You can access the full list of required documents here.
An International Advisory Council will evaluate applications based on nine essential criteria, including cultural and natural resources, heritage conservation and promotion, economic, social, and environmental sustainability, tourism development and integration into the value chain, governance and tourism prioritization, infrastructure and connectivity, health, safety, and security, and tourism as a driver of rural development.
The UN Tourism jury will announce the selected localities in the third quarter of the 2025 event.
The Ministry of Culture and Valeni City Hall proposed that the United Nations World Tourism Organization name Valeni as one of the best tourism villages for 2023.
