Eugen Osmochescu said that the Republic of Moldova must create “clear and flexible” rules for the business environment while promptly sanctioning any violations. He made the statement during the “Reinvent Moldova 2.0” event organized by the Realitatea Media Group.

He stressed that the state must facilitate companies’ access to the market, their operation, and even their exit from it. At the same time, authorities must intervene quickly when irregularities arise, including based on risk assessments. The minister also acknowledged that Moldova has not yet reached its desired level of development.

“We are not where we wanted to be. We are not at the level of prosperity we talk about,” Osmochescu said, explaining that the effects of reforms implemented in recent years appear only after two to three years.

He noted that, although progress exists and “what has been done, has been done very well,” it is not enough to generate rapid economic impact in a small country exposed to geopolitical pressures between East and West.

At the same time, he reaffirmed the country’s strategic direction, emphasizing that Moldova has firmly chosen the European path, seen as the only one capable of delivering real prosperity to its citizens, within the framework of the European Union.

According to him, authorities have reached a critical stage. After a period of rapid reform implementation, they must now focus on using funds efficiently and capitalizing on opportunities offered by economic growth plans.

Osmochescu also outlined Chisinau’s ambitions: signing the EU accession treaty by 2028 and obtaining full membership by 2030, relying on an accelerated pace of reforms and strong external support.
