The Republic of Moldova has become a regional example in digitalization after years of learning from models such as Estonia and Singapore, said Economy Minister Eugen Osmochescu at the Reinvent Moldova 2.0 event organized by the Realitatea Media Group.

“Digitalization is a very beautiful success story. We had our teachers, especially Estonia and Singapore. Now we are becoming teachers for some countries in the field of digitalization,” the minister said.

At the same time, he acknowledged that Moldova lags behind in the field of artificial intelligence, both in the public and private sectors, warning that delays in adopting strategies could have serious consequences.

“Artificial intelligence could retire us tomorrow if we do not act today. Because tomorrow will be different from what we have today,” Osmochescu stated.

He emphasized that the country’s success in digitalization stems from cooperation between authorities and the business environment, a model he believes should be replicated in future reforms.

In this context, the minister announced plans to accelerate economic transformation through what he described as “aggressive” reforms aimed at delivering tangible benefits for both the economy and society.

“We will move forward like a bulldozer with aggressive reforms that must bring prosperity, both in a philosophical sense and in real terms,” he added.
