Parliament has approved the lifting of the state of emergency in the energy sector. A total of 69 MPs supported the decision, while 13 lawmakers did not vote.
The measure will expire on April 25, one month after authorities introduced it. After lifting the state of emergency, the Government will establish an energy alert for 60 days. Officials say this step will allow rapid intervention if problems arise on the energy market.
“This will allow continuous monitoring and quick intervention to ensure the security of electricity and petroleum product supplies, depending on risk developments,” the Parliament’s press service stated.
Authorities introduced the state of emergency on March 25, 2026, after the Vulcanesti-Isaccea power line was disconnected following Russian attacks on civilian energy infrastructure in Ukraine. This disruption caused an electricity deficit of up to 400 MW during peak hours.
During the same period, instability in the Middle East disrupted petroleum product supplies, particularly diesel.
