Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu held his first meeting of the new mandate on Thursday, October 23, with members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom Parliament.
Grosu highlighted that the United Kingdom remains a strong and reliable ally of the Republic of Moldova and expressed appreciation for its ongoing support.
“I thanked them for their continued assistance to the Republic of Moldova, especially for their support of our dynamic Moldovan community in the UK,” Grosu said.
He also noted a recent development benefiting Moldovans living in the UK — beginning August 1, 2025, Moldovan citizens will be able to exchange their Moldovan driver’s licenses for British ones without taking theoretical or practical exams.
The meeting followed the first plenary session of the new Parliament, held on October 22, during which Igor Grosu was re-elected Speaker with 55 votes, while Alexandr Stoianoglo received 32 votes.
