Athlete Zalina Marghieva has qualified for the Olympic Games in Paris in the hammer throw event, the Moldovan Ministry of Education and Research announces.
The athlete achieved this performance at the International Tournament “Dionisopolis” in Bulgaria, where she recorded the result of 75.95 meters and took first place. The qualifying standard for the Summer Olympics is at least 74 meters.
At the competition in Bulgaria, Zalina Marghieva also broke the personal national record in this event, which she had held since 2019, with the result of 74.74 meters.

“Zalina Marghieva will participate in her 5th consecutive Summer Olympics, setting a record for athletics in the Republic of Moldova. The athlete participated in the International Tournament “Dionisopolis” in Bulgaria with the financial support of the Ministry of Education and Research,” the institution said.
So far, the Republic of Moldova has secured 13 quotas for participation in the Paris Olympic Games.
Nichita Anastasia, Irina Ringaci, Victor Ciobanu, Valentin Petic, and Mariana Dragutan (wrestling); Serghei Tarnovschi, Daniela Cociu, Maria Olarasu (canoeing); Dan Olaru (archery); Alisa Glinka (equestrian); Anna Dulce (shooting) and Marin Robu (weightlifting) will represent Moldova.
