Maia Sandu, the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) candidate for President of the Republic of Moldova, met on Tuesday, October 8, with representatives of several ethnic minority associations. During the discussion, she called for unity and highlighted the benefits of Moldova’s European Union integration for all citizens, regardless of ethnicity. “In the EU, all ethnic communities are protected and can develop their culture, language, and traditions,” Sandu stated.

Sandu also emphasized social cohesion and the pursuit of peace, which she described as the core of her electoral platform. “In recent years, we have worked hard to maintain peace and harmony at home. I’ve discussed with representatives of ethnic minority associations how everybody can contribute to social cohesion and our journey toward a peaceful family—this is the most important goal of my Plan for Moldova,” she said.

She stressed that the power to shape Moldova’s future rests in the hands of its citizens through unity. “Even as we face the pressures of a border war, which some unscrupulous people exploit to create fear and panic, our institutions have maintained order, and society has remained united. I have always engaged with all communities, believing in the value of each individual. Our strength comes from unity. I have never chosen between one citizen and another or between whose celebrations are more ‘valid.’ I believe we can live together, each with our memories, sorrows, and joys. If we stay united, no external force can criticize or divide us,” Sandu remarked.

Looking ahead to the October 20 elections, Sandu noted their long-term significance for Moldova’s future. “Just as we promised to find funding for the ‘European Village’ program without discriminating between regions, we continue to invest in improving lives. Meanwhile, others are wasting money on lies and vote-buying. EU membership benefits everyone. On October 20, we will decide our country’s fate for the next decades. Let’s not allow minor differences to hinder our path to peace and prosperity for all,” she urged.

PAS has nominated and is supporting Maia Sandu in her run for a second term as President of the Republic of Moldova.

Moldova will hold presidential elections and a constitutional referendum on EU accession on October 20.
