Poland wants to be “Moldova’s lawyer” in the process of joining the European Union. The statements were made by Kacper Płażyński, the president of the Commission for European Union Affairs, visiting Chisinau with a group of deputies from Warsaw.

“I had a very productive visit to the Republic of Moldova and identified several areas of cooperation. We will also continue to support your country in overcoming the energy crisis, and inflation – phenomena also present in the Republic of Poland. We understand well the situation in which the Republic of Moldova was mentioned, and the response of the international community must be – assistance and solidarity. Know that the Republic of Poland will continue to be the lawyer of the Republic of Moldova in the European Union, until the end of your European journey”, said the official, in discussions with the Head of the Executive.

The Polish deputies congratulated the members of the Government for the Republic of Moldova obtaining the status of a candidate country for joining the European Union and reiterated that Poland will fully support our European agenda.

For his part, Gavrilița told the Warsaw delegation about the need to strengthen Moldovan-Polish trade and investment relations. Topics such as the relaunch of negotiations regarding investments in agriculture, the modernization of the transport sector, and the digitization of public services were also addressed.

A group of Polish deputies was in the Republic of Moldova between January 16 and 18. The delegation was composed of members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on European Union Affairs of the Warsaw Sejm. In addition to the Prime Minister, the foreign parliamentarians met with the President of the Legislature, the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and their Moldovan counterparts.
