Police documented over 400 people for accepting money in exchange for votes. What fines do they face?

In the Republic of Moldova, the documentation of bribery cases of voters during the election campaign continues. According to a statement from the General Inspectorate of Police (IGP) on Tuesday, October 22, authorities are documenting more than 400 people for accepting money in exchange for votes, which could result in administrative fines of up to 37,500 lei.

“Most of those targeted are cooperating with the investigation and supplying information that can serve as evidence. Law enforcers continue to focus on documenting those who accepted money in exchange for votes and those who influenced the processes to bribe voters,” the police statement said.

Law enforcement stated that individuals who cooperate with the investigation and provide information will not have to pay fines, as outlined by the law.
