The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, had a meeting on Friday in Chișinău with Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission. The dialogue focused on the Republic of Moldova’s accession process to the EU, the security situation in the region, and strengthening our country’s capabilities to address threats to national security.
Maia Sandu appreciated the support provided by the EU in implementing reforms and strengthening the security and defense sector through the European Instrument for Peace.
During the meeting, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Adrian Efros, and Josep Borrell signed the Status of the European Union Partnership Mission in Moldova (EUPM). This civilian mission, part of the EU’s Common Security and Defense Policy, aims to strengthen our country’s capabilities in crisis management and hybrid threats.
The head of state welcomed the mission’s activities and expressed her interest in continuing to deepen cooperation with the European Union in the field of security and defense.
