President Maia Sandu Meets UK Parliamentary Delegation to Discuss Moldova’s Democratic Resilience and Bilateral Cooperation

President Maia Sandu met today, October 22, with a delegation from the Foreign Affairs Committee of the UK Parliament, led by Emily Thornberry, Chair of the Committee, and including MPs Alex Ballinger, Uma Kumaran, and Edward Morello, who are on an official visit to Chisinau.

During the meeting, officials discussed Moldova’s democratic resilience, the strengthening of state institutions amid disinformation and foreign interference, and the lessons Moldova can share on safeguarding electoral integrity.

President Sandu highlighted the importance of close cooperation with the United Kingdom in areas such as cybersecurity, combating disinformation, and countering illicit financing. She emphasized that British support has played a vital role in enhancing the capacity of Moldova’s institutions to address these challenges.

The head of state expressed her gratitude for the UK’s assistance and reaffirmed her commitment to deepening bilateral relations, underscoring that stronger cooperation will help bolster Moldova’s resilience, security, and progress toward European integration.
