President Maia Sandu of Moldova to Receive Timișoara Prize for European Values

The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, will receive the Timișoara Prize for European Values on Saturday in Timișoara.

“The President of the Republic of Moldova is the first laureate of the highest distinction established this year by the Municipality of Timișoara. On this occasion, Her Excellency will be present in Timișoara for the ceremony on January 13 and will deliver a speech on Europe and the values that define us,” announces the Timișoara City Hall.

The Timișoara Prize for European Values honors internationally recognized personalities who, with determination, courage, and creativity, promote or defend European values within and outside the European Union.

The jury that selected Maia Sandu as the first laureate of the prize is composed of prominent figures who promote European values: Mircea Cărtărescu (Bucharest), writer; Iulia Motoc (The Hague), judge of the International Criminal Court; Cristian Măcelaru (Cologne), musical director of the National Orchestra of France; Simona Miculescu (Paris), Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador, Permanent Delegate of Romania to UNESCO; Anca Miruna Lăzărescu (Munich), director and screenwriter; Adriana Babeţi (Timișoara), writer and literary critic.
