The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, and the European Commissioner for Budget and Administration, Johannes Hahn, discussed the priorities and the future of European assistance for Moldova.
During a telephone conversation, the head of state emphasized the importance of continuous support for strengthening the resilience of the Republic of Moldova, modernizing infrastructure and institutions, as well as advancing on the path to EU accession.
Maia Sandu also expressed gratitude for the consistent support provided by the EU in overcoming the difficulties faced by Moldova in recent years, as well as for the funding of various projects.

She appreciated the historic decision to start accession negotiations with the EU, made in December of last year, as a turning point for the Republic of Moldova.
At the same time, the head of state reiterated “the firm commitment of the government in Chișinău to continue the necessary reforms to meet the accession criteria so that Moldova becomes a member state of the EU as soon as possible.”
