The natural gas crisis, but also the rather alarming statements of Moscow in the last period towards our country were two topics addressed by the country’s president, Maia Sandu, at the Bled Strategic Forum 2022, which she attended yesterday, August 29 online.
Maia Sandu welcomed the creation of the common European platform for the purchase of natural gas, however, which will bear fruit only in a few years. Until then, Moldova suffers from the high purchase price at present, which ends up costing at least 10 times more than before.
The head of state also talked about the fact that Russia has changed its rhetoric in relation to our country since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, because our country condemned this invasion, which is why Moscow is sending increasingly threatening messages to the security of the state , but which also endanger the independence and sovereignty of Moldova.
“We are in a difficult situation because we are in a region close to war. Propaganda has been a big problem for Moldova for a very long time. There are people who still do not understand the reality, although this war is changing the situation. We are also acutely dependent on Russian energy resources. We should all learn our lessons about energy. Moldova has certainly learned its lesson and we are trying to work to diversify sources, but it is not an easy thing to do quickly. Especially in such a market, with such high prices”, declared the Head of State.
