Presidential elections: Some of the signatures for candidates will be collected electronically

During the upcoming fall presidential elections, authorities will partially implement the electronic collection of signatures on the subscription lists for presidential candidates, according to IPN.

“Initiative groups must submit at least 15,000 valid supporter signatures, with the remaining up to 25,000 allowed to be collected through the electronic subscription list. I want to mention that this module will work through the qualified electronic signature held by the citizens,” said the Central Electoral Commission Deputy Chairman, Pavel Postica.

According to the Electoral Code, to be registered by the Central Electoral Commission, all candidates for the office of President of the Republic of Moldova must submit subscription lists containing the signatures of at least 15 000 and at most 25 000 voters from at least half of the number of second level administrative-territorial units, i.e., the districts and municipalities of Chisinau and Balti.
