Prime Minister Dorin Recean congratulated President Maia Sandu on winning her second term as head of state in Moldova’s presidential elections.
“Moldova, be proud of your people! Together, we delivered a powerful lesson in unity and democracy. Together, we have elected a president with whom we will continue building a European Moldova and a peaceful, prosperous future. Congratulations, President Maia Sandu,” he said.
With 99.86% of the results verified, Maia Sandu secured another term in a runoff election against Socialist candidate Alexandr Stoianoglo. Sandu received 930,512 votes, 55.41% of the total, while Stoianoglo garnered 748,781 votes, or 44.49%.

By 10 p.m., centralized data indicated that 1,690,911 voters had cast their ballots, a turnout of over 54%.
