Republic of Moldova Gears Up to Accelerate EU Accession with New Reform Updates

Chisinau, Republic of Moldova – In a recent announcement, Vice Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, revealed that the Republic of Moldova will be submitting a new set of updates on the reforms implemented in its process of joining the European Union. The announcement was made today at the beginning of the Government meeting, as reported by MOLDPRES.

During the meeting, Vice Prime Minister Popescu emphasized that the country has made significant progress in key areas such as the justice sector, deoligarchization, and the consolidation of democracy. He also highlighted the regular communication and cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the European Commission.

“We maintain daily contact with the European Commission, where we inform and work together to bring our country closer to the EU. In June, we will submit a new set of updates on the reform process. Ten days ago, we provided information on the implementation of the nine recommendations from the European Commission, where we observed significant progress in important areas such as the justice sector, deoligarchization, and the consolidation of democracy. A few days ago, according to an international rating, the Republic of Moldova rose to the 28th position worldwide in terms of press freedom. This demonstrates that in our European journey, we are capable of advancing in the consolidation of democracy. The return of the airport under state management and the conviction of Mr. Shor are evidence that the Republic of Moldova is capable of accelerating its European path through judicial reforms and the strengthening of democracy,” stated Nicu Popescu.
