By 2030, the Republic of Moldova aims to consume 30% of its electricity from renewable sources. A corresponding bill was voted on in the second reading by the Parliament on November 9, 2023. According to the document, Moldova will be able to purchase renewable energy from other European countries.
Additionally, apartment owners will have the opportunity to install renewable energy parks for their own consumption.
Furthermore, the bill seeks to simplify administrative procedures for the development of renewable energy projects, and this will be promoted in the heating, cooling, and transportation sectors as well. Currently, Moldova only produces 6% of its electricity from renewable sources.
