Sandu, in Cotroceni: In this complicated period, Romania is with us

The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, on an official visit to Bucharest, thanked the Romanian people for the help and support given during this complicated period for our country. “Today, more than ever, we feel Romania’s strong support for the Republic of Moldova”, declared Maia Sandu.

The President of the Republic of Moldova offered guarantees that the new Government in Chisinau, led by Dorin Recean, will continue an energetic dialogue with the Government of Romania.

“The ever-closer connection between Chisinau and Bucharest has a direct impact on our citizens, we are getting closer to Romania, and out family, the EU,” Sandu said.

In her speech in Cotroceni, Maia Sandu also spoke about regional security and the war in Ukraine.

“We in the Republic of Moldova are protected by the shield of Ukrainian heroes, Europe is strong because of the firmness with which it defends peace. The Republic of Moldova is going through unprecedented challenges. On the eve of winter, we had to face energy blackmail from the Kremlin. Some wanted our country to fall, to be able to establish in Chisinau a Government servile to the Kremlin. In this complicated period, Romania is by your side and disinterested. While some blackmail us, others embrace us”, President Sandu also said.

“In 2023, our priority is the reconstruction of the economy, the continuation of reforms, and the strengthening of state security. Romania remains the main market for Moldovan products, but I know that we can be even more present in the Romanian market. We want to attract more Romanian investments to Moldova. We will continue the implementation of common infrastructure and energy interconnection projects, we will also expand the projects we have in the fields of education, culture as well as local development and environmental protection. With the support of Romania, along with the support of other international partners, Moldova is ready to go – with all confidence – forward”, said Sandu.

The head of state announced that the next donor conference of the Assistance Platform for Moldova, initiated by Romania, France, and Germany, will take place this fall in Chisinau.
