On the night of April 14, Iran attacked Israel with drones and ballistic missiles. The IDF claims that 99% of them were intercepted. The attack was supported by the Houthis and “Hezbollah.” Some of the drones were shot down in the skies over Syria and Jordan.
A few hours after the announcement of the attack, an air alert sounded throughout Israel. Telegram channels posted videos of Israeli air defense and missile interceptions. An explosion was heard in Jerusalem.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made an emergency address and said that Israel was ready for a direct attack from Iran and would respond in kind. The Israeli military said the drones would take several hours to reach Israeli territory.
Iran’s UN office later said the Iranian attack on Israel was over.
“The matter can be considered over. But if the Israeli regime makes another mistake, Iran’s response will be much harsher,” the mission said in a post on social network X.
The statement also said the attack was in response to an Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus. The strike killed officers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
