Shahed-Type Drone Crosses Moldova’s Airspace Before Entering Romania; Authorities Launch Checks

The Border Police were informed on the morning of Tuesday, 25 November, by the Ministry of Defence’s Air Operations Service about the overflight of Moldova’s national airspace by a Shahed-type drone in the southern region of the country.

According to the information received, the aerial device was detected moving along the Vinogradovca–Vulcanesti route before heading towards the state border with Romania, in the area between Colibasi (Cahul district) and Vadul lui Isac. The drone subsequently crossed into Romanian airspace. Romanian authorities were immediately notified.

Based on the information available, Moldovan authorities have launched the procedural measures required under current legislation. The area where the drone is believed to have passed is being inspected, and no objects posing a risk to public safety have been identified so far.

The Border Police remain in contact with national institutions and international partners, continuing efforts to monitor and secure the state border and ensure the safety of citizens of the Republic of Moldova.
