Solidarity with Ukraine: Moldova’s Support and Open Arms for Ukrainian Refugees

President Maia Sandu had a meeting with representatives of the Ukrainian community settled in the Republic of Moldova. The head of state expressed solidarity with Ukraine and commitment to condemning the war and atrocities committed by Russia, as stated in the Presidential communication.

“From the early days of the war, the Republic of Moldova has stood by the Ukrainian people and will continue to stand by Ukraine on the path of European integration,” stated Maia Sandu.

Representatives of the Ukrainian community thanked Maia Sandu for her openness and the support provided by the Republic of Moldova to Ukrainians who were forced to leave their homes and country due to the military invasion by the Russian Federation.

According to the data from the General Inspectorate for Migration, since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, approximately 100,000 Ukrainians have taken refuge in the Republic of Moldova.

On average, around 7,000 Ukrainian citizens cross the state border daily, according to the Border Police data.

On August 24th, Ukraine will celebrate its 32 years of independence.
