The Agreement with IBRD: Fifty million dollars is not the development of the agricultural sector

By 2029, $55 million will be invested in the development of the agricultural sector. The government approved a draft law on the ratification of the Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the International Bank for Reconstruction for the implementation of the project “Investment in the Management, development, and Sustainability of the agricultural sector” (IMDSAS).

“Thus, farmers will be given $21 million in grants to stimulate initiatives to promote and develop livestock and crop production. Another $25 million will be directed to recover primary and secondary irrigation infrastructure. At the same time, it is planned to allocate 6.5 million to strengthen the capacity of the Agency for Interventions and Payments in the Field of Agriculture and the National Food Security Agency,” the executive branch reports.

It is also planned to allocate funds from this amount for the creation Agricultural Advisory Center and Centers of Excellence in veterinary medicine. Another $2.5 million will be directed to project management.

Financial resources will help improve the quality of agricultural services and increase the sustainability and productivity of agricultural enterprises.
