The Alternativa Bloc Registers for the Parliamentary Elections: Ion Ceban, Leading the List, Vows to Remain Mayor After the Campaign

The Alternativa electoral bloc submitted its list of candidates to the Central Electoral Commission for the September 28 parliamentary elections. The bloc includes the MAN Party, the Party for the Development and Consolidation of Moldova, the Collective Action Party “Civic Congress,” and former Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo, according to IPN.

The Chisinau Mayor and the MAN leader Ion Ceban leads the list. He told the press, “The country must return to the path of development. First and foremost, we come with a team of professionals. The Republic of Moldova has a future.”

Although he previously said he did not wish to become a deputy, Ceban still appears on the list. He clarified that he would run the campaign, then step back. “I stated that I will run in these elections, and the contract with citizens remains valid. I will campaign, then withdraw and remain in my role as mayor,” he declared.

Following Ion Ceban on the list are Alexandr Stoianoglo, Ion Chicu, and Mark Tcaciuc.

Also today, the Council of the Patriotic Electoral Bloc of Socialists, Communists, Heart and Future of Moldova approved its candidate list for the upcoming elections. They submitted the list and other required documents to the Central Electoral Commission for registration.

The deadline to submit candidate registration documents for the September 28 elections is August 19. The official campaign period begins on August 29.
