Dmitri Constantinov is stepping down as president of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia. He announced his resignation on the institution’s official page, stating that he was not subjected to any pressure and that he intends to prioritize his health.
According to Constantinov, the presidium has already accepted his resignation request.
“I want to be clear — there was no pressure on me from anywhere. There were no instructions. I decided to take care of my health. Especially since I have 90 days of unused leave. For now, I will focus on my health,” he said.
Recently, the head of the Intelligence and Security Service visited Comrat for discussions with Constantinov. Following the meeting, the assembly president noted that the official wanted to better understand the situation in the region.
Later, during a televised program, Constantinov said his presence at an event linked to the formation of the Victory bloc — a political project controlled by Ilan Shor — had been accidental.
