The Chairpersons of the Foreign Affairs Committees from the Parliaments of the Baltic and Nordic States will visit Moldova

The Chairpersons of the Foreign Affairs Committees from the Parliaments of the Baltic and Nordic States (NB8) will visit the Republic of Moldova from March 31 to April 1. The Chisinau Parliament emphasizes that this visit signals support from the Baltic and Nordic States for the Republic of Moldova and its European path.

Discussions will address regional foreign and security policy and the challenges the Republic of Moldova faces in the EU accession process.

“According to the agenda, the officials will meet with the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu. Additionally, the Chairpersons of the foreign affairs committees from the Baltic and Nordic States’ Parliaments will meet with Parliament Vice President Doina Gherman.

The officials will also discuss key issues with Ina Coseru, Chair of the Foreign Policy and European Integration Committee, Lilian Carp, Chair of the National Security, Defense, and Public Order Committee, and Roman Rosca, Chair of the Special Parliamentary Committee for Monitoring and Parliamentary Oversight of the Republic of Moldova’s Reintegration Policy.

The agenda includes a meeting with Parliament Vice President Vlad Batrincea, Chair of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists faction,” the Chisinau Parliament states.

On Monday, March 31, the Chairpersons of the foreign affairs committees from the Parliaments of the Baltic and Nordic States will deliver statements to the media. The press conference will take place in the foyer of the Europa Hall starting at 11:50 AM.

The visit program features discussions with civil society. On Tuesday, April 1, the European officials will travel to the Gagauz Autonomous Territorial Unit (UTA Gagauzia) to meet with representatives of local public authorities.

NB8 (Nordic-Baltic 8) is a regional cooperation group of eight countries: Lithuania, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Norway, and Sweden.
