MEPs found that the Russian Federation, since February 2014, has been waging an illegal, unprovoked, and unjustified war of aggression against Ukraine, amplified on February 24, 2022, by a full-scale invasion. According to the document, this act of open aggression represents war crimes and a flagrant and severe violation of the principles of international law and the international commitments assumed by the Russian Federation.

The parliamentarians call on the Russian Federation to immediately cease military activities in Ukraine and unconditionally withdraw all military forces and equipment from Ukraine’s entire internationally recognized territory.

At the same time, the authorities of the Republic of Moldova support the efforts of the community of democratic states to establish a special tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine, to establish responsibility for war crimes and for all violations of international humanitarian law committed by the Russian Federation and its henchmen in Ukraine. The document confirms the readiness of the authorities of the Republic of Moldova to continue to provide humanitarian assistance and aid to the residents of Ukraine who are seeking refuge due to the war.
