The Economy of the Republic of Moldova – in decline!

The economy of the Republic of Moldova registered a decrease of 1%. The estimated Gross Domestic Product for the second quarter of 2022 amounted to 64.3 billion lei, current market prices. Compared to the similar period of 2021, the GDP decreased, in real terms, by 0.9% on the gross series and by 0.6% on the seasonally adjusted series, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, writes Bani.md.

Construction (-3.0%), manufacturing industry (-0.7%), real estate transactions (-0.4%), production and supply of electricity and heating, gas, hot water and air conditioning (-0.4%) and agriculture (-0.3%).

At the same time, wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+2.2%), health and social assistance (+0.9%), financial activities and insurance ( +0.4%) and public food (+0.3%).

“The economy of Moldova will register a decrease this year or, in the best case, a growth to 0%. The initially forecasted increase of 3.5% is no longer valid in the conditions of the war in the region”, according to the estimates of the Ministry of Finance.
