Today, the Executive approved the allocation of 4.8 million lei from the Reserve Fund to cover expenses related to the maintenance and activity of temporary accommodation centers for refugees in December 2023.
According to the Government Communication Directorate, more than 2 million lei will be allocated to the second-level local government authorities and 438 thousand lei to the first-level local government authorities.
The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection will receive almost 2.3 million lei to cover the maintenance costs of temporary placement centers established by public institutions, state enterprises, companies with the majority of state capital, and non-commercial organizations. At the same time, over 53,000 lei will be redirected to cover the maintenance costs of the temporary placement center for refugees, created by the administrative authority under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection.
The mechanism for allocating financial resources to temporary accommodation centers is no longer available since the expiry of the state of emergency on 31 December 2023. Therefore, financial allocations from the Government Reserve Fund were necessary to cover the expenses in December 2023.
