On October 20, 2024, the Republic of Moldova will hold both presidential elections and a constitutional referendum on its accession to the European Union. Voters will be asked, “Do you support amending the Constitution to enable the Republic of Moldova’s accession to the European Union?”
In this context, on Tuesday, October 8, the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) voted on a declaration to support the October 20 referendum and Moldova’s European integration path.
The Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) faction of the CMC initiated the proposal, and most of the municipal councilors at the meeting backed it. Thirty-six out of fifty-one councilors signed the declaration.
