The National Army sent its 19th contingent as part of the KFOR peacekeeping mission to Kosovo. The ceremony on this occasion was attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in the Republic of Moldova, the military, and their relatives.
“Within six months, you will carry out various missions in the international theater of operations. It will not be easy because you will operate in new conditions, but I know that you have the necessary training to carry out the tasks at the highest level. Don’t forget that you are the ambassador of our country in the mission of KFOR. Your successes in Kosovo are the successes of the National Army and Moldova,” Defense Minister Anatoly Nosatii said at the event.
For his part, the United States Ambassador to Chisinau, Kent Logsdon, noted: “It is a great honor for me to wish success to these soldiers in their future deployment as part of the 19th contingent of the Republic of Moldova in KFOR, an important peacekeeping operation in Kosovo. Contributing to international security is a noble duty, and the United States is proud to be your permanent partner in this endeavor.”
Mihaela Shimakova, head of the NATO Liaison Office in Chisinau, which was present at the secondment ceremony, also noted: “The current security context once again demonstrates the importance of partnership. KFOR is an example of multilateral cooperation, where 20 allies and seven partners work together. Moldova’s participation is a remarkable proof of its commitment to international security and stability. It also contributes to strengthening the capabilities of the National Army and further enhancing its interoperability with other countries.”
