Representatives of the Presidency will not comment on Ilan Shor’s accusations claiming that the head of state allegedly stole money from him. At the same time, the press office of the presidential administration states that the fugitive politician, convicted in the Republic of Moldova, is hiding from justice in an authoritarian state.

“We have nothing to comment on the lies of a convicted criminal who is hiding from justice in an authoritarian regime and is trying to destabilize Moldova with dirty money,” said Igor Zaharov, spokesperson for President Maia Sandu.

Ilan Shor released a video message in which he announced that he is ending his social projects in Moldova and withdrawing political support for the local officials affiliated with him.

The oligarch, who is based in Moscow, claimed that these individuals are being persecuted by the government. He also announced the creation of a so-called “national front” against the authorities.
