The President of Romania will speak in The Hague before the NATO Summit: the defense capability of Moldova is on the agenda

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis will take part on Tuesday, June 27, in The Hague, Kingdom of the Netherlands, in a small preparatory meeting for the NATO Summit in Vilnius, at the invitation of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte. As part of the discourse, the head of Romania plans to emphasize the relevance of developing allied assistance to strengthen the defense capability and stability of the Republic of Moldova.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the achievement of priority goals on the agenda of the NATO Summit in Vilnius, which will be held from July 11 to 12.

President Klaus Iohannis will also discuss with the leaders present at the meeting the main topics on the agenda of the Summit, focusing on the need for concrete progress in the full implementation of the decisions of the NATO summit in Madrid in 2022 and the adoption of new measures, as well as on the support provided to Ukraine, respectively, the prospects for accelerating its accession to NATO.

At the same time, the President of Romania will underline the need for clear decisions at the Summit regarding the specific progress of Ukraine towards NATO membership, including by the joint declaration signed with President Volodymyr Zelensky on June 1, 2023, on the sidelines of the ENP Summit, which was held in the Republic of Moldova, regarding the Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine.
